Does a UAE citizen need a Thailand visa?

It depends on your desired duration of stay in Thailand. If it does not exceed 30 days, then no visa is required for a UAE national.

However, this only applies if you enter the territory of the country via air. Otherwise – if you come by land – you will be granted only 15 days of visa-free stay.

And, obviously, once you exceed whichever limit applicable, you will need to get a visa.

How does one go about obtaining a Thai visa?

You have to apply for a Thailand visa before your trip, unless you are eligible for a Thai visa on arrival.

This means that you will need to reach out to the embassy and provide them with the necessary documents, fill in the application form, pay the fee, and then get your visa approved.

Choosing the right type of visa

Depending on your plans – what you wish to see, how long you desire to stay, and for what purpose in general you are going to Thailand – you must choose the correct visa type.

Here are the main kinds of visa that you can hope to obtain:

  • Single entry 30 days tourist visa to Thailand. What it entails is that you can enter the country only once, even if you leave before its duration runs out and wish to enter again. The processing time comes to 5-7 working days, and the cost is 800 AED.
  • Multiple entry 6 months tourist visa. This kind of visa to Thailand allows you to leave and reenter the state of Thailand more than once within the 6 months during which the visa is valid. The application for this visa will also be processed within 5 to 7 working days, while the price will come to 1400 AED.
  • Thailand eVisa. This type is arguably the most convenient one to get, as you can do it from the comfort of your home via the Internet. In spite of that, the processing time averages the same 5 to 7 working days. The cost is 750 AED.
