Thailand Travel
Restrictions in 2023

main

Travelling to Thailand in 2023 is unfortunately besmirched by the still lingering restrictions imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite that, the country is a far cry from unenterable as of now, and we can safely go there under certain conditions.

Thailand reopened to tourism in October 2022. However, there are certain regulations one must abide by to come there.

Travel to Thailand

The strictest travel restrictions Thailand applies to the unvaccinated visitors. They must provide a valid RT-PCR or Pro-ATK test result confirming they are not infected when they enter the country. Those results need to be issued no earlier than 3 days (72 hours) prior to boarding the plane to Thailand.

Those of us who are vaccinated have to bring a copy of their vaccination certificate.

Am I required to have a visa to visit Thailand?

To travel to Thailand, one needs to have a visa unless they are a citizen of one of 64 countries exempt from that. The UAE is included on the list and may enter the country for tourism for up to 30 days.

Other countries the citizens of which do not need a visa, among others, include:

  • Israel;
  • UK;
  • US;
  • European Union countries;
  • Malaysia, etc.

What about the COVID insurance
for foreigners?

TThe Thailand travel restrictions prescribe that one should have an insurance policy when coming to the country. While this is not strictly speaking necessary, it is highly suggested that you do that when you go to Thailand as a tourist.

The reason for it is that insurance will help you stay above the water if the unfortunate happens.

I’m unvaccinated. Do I have to stay at a quarantine hotel?

If you are not vaccinated, you can stay at a quarantine hotel.
To choose one that suits you, you will need to consider its location, average prices for a room, and other factors. You should also be aware that Thai quarantine policies are subject to change, and it would be wise of any tourist in Thailand to keep that in mind.

I’m going to Bangkok. What are some quarantine hotels I can stop at?

There are quite a few of various hotels in the city where an unvaccinated tourist may stay. Based on our experience, many people recommend such an establishment as The Landmark Bangkok as well as Conrad Bangkok Hotel.

However, we must emphasize that it is mostly up to personal preference, as every person has different needs when it comes to accommodation.
